Last week I had the pleasure of organizing a two-day intensive coding workshop for the HiTemp research group of KU Leuven.
Learning to analyze complex data efficiently allows engineers from all walks of life to fully leverage their domain knowledge in this digital world.
Analyzing real data with code
Together with 18 PhD-researchers and professors we analyzed real data generated at the KU Leuven Department of Materials Engineering. We wrote code using the two popular open-source programming languages for data analysis: R and Python.
We established that coding is not only for software developers: learning to analyze complex data efficiently allows engineers from all walks of life to fully leverage their domain knowledge in this digital world. I’m excited to see how the participants will continue to expand and apply their new coding skills to their individual research!
Coding in a web browser
The ability to set up an online R and Python coding environment in a web browser is an absolute game changer for teaching code!
